... Coastal flood advisory remains in effect from 8 am this
morning to 5 PM EST this afternoon...

* locations... Soundside flooding from Rodanthe north. High surf
all beaches with areas south of Cape Hatteras having largest
surf.

* Tidal departure... up to 1 foot above ground.

* Surf height... 8 to 12 feet.

* Timing... today into tonight.

* Impacts... large breaking waves of 8 to 12 feet will result in
dangerous surf conditions. Do not enter or approach the water
due to the risk of being swept away. Minor beach erosion is
also expected.

* Coastal flood impacts... minor flooding is expected in the most
vulnerable locations near the Waterfront and/or shoreline
resulting in a low threat of property damage. Expect 1 foot
(above ground) of inundation in low lying, vulnerable areas.
Some roads and low lying property including parking lots,
Parks, lawns, and homes near the Waterfront will experience
shallow flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area, producing localized beach erosion and
dangerous swimming conditions.

A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides
will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.
