Beach Hazard Statement

Expires 1:00 AM EST on December 19, 2018
Statement as of 12:07 am PST on December 15, 2018

... Beach hazards statement remains in effect from late Sunday
night through Tuesday evening...

* surf outlook... 5 to 8 foot surf will be likely across west
facing beaches, especially near Rincon.

* Impacts... there is an increased risk for ocean drowning.
Strong rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea.
Large breaking waves can cause injury... wash people off
beaches and rocks... and capsize small boats near shore.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

High surf could produce localized beach erosion and dangerous
swimming conditions. Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip
current, relax and float. Don't swim against the current. If
able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to
escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
