The Flood Warning continues for
the New River at Gum Branch.
* Until further notice.
* At 9 PM Tuesday the stage was 17.4 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Impact... at 17.0 feet... water surrounds homes at the end of Forest
Bluff drive. Water inundates lazy river court. Many acres of
farmland along the river are flooded.

southwestern Lenoir County in eastern North Carolina...
southwestern Craven County in eastern North Carolina...
Onslow County in eastern North Carolina...
Duplin County in eastern North Carolina...
western Carteret County in eastern North Carolina...

* until 1230 PM EDT Wednesday.

* At 1217 PM EDT... flooding continues due to the extreme rainfall
from Florence working through area rivers and streams. Use
caution when traveling or performing recovering activities. Please
continue to heed any Road closures.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jacksonville, Kinston, Wallace, Warsaw, Pumpkin Center, Piney
Green, New River station, Half Moon, Camp Lejeune center, Mount
Olive, Swansboro, Phillips Crossroads, Hubert, Kornegay, Rose Hill,
Richlands, Beulaville, Deep Run, Maysville and Catherine Lake.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

* Hazards... moderate risk of rip currents.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If caught in a rip current remain calm. Don't fight the current.
Swim in a direction following the shoreline. When out of the
current, swim back to shore. If tired, float or tread water until
out of the rip current. If unable to escape, face the shore and
call or wave for help.
