... Flood Watch remains in effect from 7 am EST this morning
through Saturday afternoon...

The Flood Watch continues for

* portions of Piedmont North Carolina and western North
Carolina, including the following areas, in Piedmont North
Carolina, Alexander, Cabarrus, Catawba, Cleveland, Davie,
Gaston, Iredell, Lincoln, Mecklenburg, Rowan, and Union. In
western North Carolina, Avery, Buncombe, Burke mountains,
Caldwell mountains, eastern McDowell, eastern Polk, greater
Burke, greater Caldwell, greater Rutherford, Henderson,
McDowell Mountains, Polk mountains, Rutherford mountains,
southern Jackson, and Transylvania.

* From 7 am EST this morning through Saturday afternoon

* periods of moderate to heavy rainfall will combine with
continued snow melt to greatly increase water runoff into
streams and main Stem rivers. Storm total rainfall of 1.5 to 3
inches, with locally higher amounts, are possible.

* Minor to moderate flooding of streams and main Stem rivers is
possible. Minor roadway flooding is also possible, especially
across areas with an extensive snow pack where storm drains
may be blocked.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
