Special Statement

Expires 11:00 PM EDT on March 21, 2019
Statement as of 2:54 PM EDT on March 21, 2019

... Gusty northwest winds and accumulating snowfall possible
across the higher elevations late this afternoon through the early
overnight hours...

Lingering moisture and the infiltration of colder air associated
with and in behind a cold front will bring the potential for rain
and snow showers along the higher elevations, especially above
5000 feet, late this afternoon through the overnight hours.
Snowfall amounts of 1-2 inches are possible mainly above 5000
feet, with the potential for elevations as low as 4000 feet for
upslope areas near the Tennessee border. The potential exists for
dangerous driving conditions across High Mountain roads due to the
combination of snow and gusty northwest winds, 20 to 30 mph with
gusts up to 40 mph.
