The National Weather Service in Sterling VA has issued a
* Flood Watch for
the Potomac River at Edwards Ferry.
* From Wednesday morning until further notice.
* At 09am Monday the stage was 9.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is possible.
* Flood stage may be reached by late Wednesday morning. Preparations
for flooding should be taken by this time.

... Flash Flood Watch in effect from noon EDT today through late
tonight...

The National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of north central Maryland,
Virginia, and Panhandle West Virginia, including the following
areas, in north central Maryland, Washington. In Virginia,
Albemarle, Augusta, central Virginia Blue Ridge, Clarke,
Culpeper, Frederick VA, Greene, Madison, Nelson, northern
Fauquier, northern Virginia Blue Ridge, Orange, Page,
Rappahannock, Rockingham, Shenandoah, southern Fauquier,
Warren, and western Loudoun. In Panhandle West Virginia,
Berkeley, Jefferson, and Morgan.

* From noon EDT today through late tonight

* multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms are expected this
afternoon into tonight. The environment favors intense rainfall
rates and showers moving over the same areas. These factors
could lead to flash flooding of small streams and creeks and
potentially river flooding. The threat of flash flooding is
expected to persist through Wednesday and the Flash Flood Watch
will likely be extended through then.


Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
